Carved wood technique!

So I had a little play on Sunday past as the weather
was atrocious with thunder, lightening and torrential rain!
What's a girl to do other than craft??

Anyway I decided to have a go at the carved wood technique.
I used items from Lisa Horton:
Poinsettia & Holly embossing folder
Painted Stripes texture stamps
Nested stitched bubble squares.
The inks I used are soft suede and bermuda bay (SU)
and matching ribbon and card from SU as well.

I did make a mistake when putting it into the embossing folder 🙈
should have been indented!!
But I still like the finished effect.
Another excuse to try again lol.

Here come the sun!

Our new challenge over at
is Here come the sun (option add a sun).

For my tag I went with a beach scene. I tried to add waves coming
into the shore lol and a cloudy sky with a big sun setting.
I did my best 👀.
I used Lisa Horton double aperture circles to create the sun,
the sand was made using blends and the sea and sky with my stencils.
I then stamped the man and child from a set called A Good Man (SU)
and coloured them with my markers.
The sentiment came from a Stampendous Tropical Treetops set.

I hope you can come and join us.

Christmas in July cards

I took a bit of time out to start on my Christmas card stash.
Both these cards were made using Lisa Horton's
Poinsettia and Holly stencil/emboss/diecut set.

One has been stencilled then embossed
the other has been embossed then stencilled.
There are subtle differences to the finished look and
I'm not sure which I prefer. More practise needed!
The sentiment is from an SU set called Itty Bitty christmas.
The ink colours I used are
Garden green, old olive, early expresso, poppy parade
and cherry cobbler. All from Stampin' Up!

Believe!

I spent a nice 15 minutes making another tag for my challenge
over at Tag Tuesday which is
Christmas in July.

I inked up my background using misty moonlight and bumblebee inks (SU).
I then stamped the images using my new  stamp from Creative Expressions
called Above the Roof Tops in black memento ink.
I added some light to the houses using gel pens
and added some snowflakes using  a chalk pen (SU).

I finished by stapling some spotty ribbon to the top.

I hope you get time to join me. Not a lot of entries this time round!!
Did I scare you all???

Update on Ruth (DIL's Mum).
They have now got things under control and hoping to move
her out of ICU into a ward.
She has now been diagnosed with systemic pneumonia
and the antibiotics are hopefully doing their job well.
She is not allowed to fly home on her set date so will
hopefully be happy to stay with Rachel for a few more weeks.
They reckon the plane journey may have brought things to the fore
as she has been suffering with repeated chest infections for the last
18 months. Fingers crossed this will see her get a chance at a good recovery.
Thanks for all your kinds thoughts.

Cute mini tags

It's the second week of my challenge theme
Christmas in July
over at TAG TUESDAY.

I have used these cute little tags from the same kit as last week
(Brenda Pinnick Christmas card kits)
and decorated them up.
The pink one has had a piece of torn paper added for snow.
The background has been stamped using a snowflake stamp
and the little snowperson has been stamped, coloured and cut
and set in place. I finished with a piece of twine and highlighted
the snowflakes with a white chalk pen.
The stamp set used is called Spirited Snowmen (SU).

The second tag has been decorated using
Dashing Deer stamp set, some faux stitching and finished
with some bakers twine.
All very quick and easy and I have a load more of these
mini tags which I intend to use up!!

I hope you get time to join us!

I have not been around much lately as we had a bit of a
drama in the family.
My daughter-in-law next door had her Mum arrive last
Sunday for a 3 week visit from Wales.
Unfortunately she took very ill the day after she arrived
and had to be rushed to hospital.
She ended up in ICU with sepsis and was very poorly indeed.
We had to step in and mind the kids as Rachel has no
other family over here so hence no crafty time.
Thankfully Rachel's Mum is out of the woods and will be
transferred from ICU to a ward for a few days, then hopefully back home.
Not much of a holiday for the poor woman and a very worrying
time for her family!!
Life has a way of surprising/shocking us all at some stage.
Take care out there.

Midway Summer Flowers

For my midway post at
where the theme is summer flowers
I have gone with a Lisa Horton set again.

Remember we have a great prize sponsored by
Crafty Individuals
so be sure and get your entry in.
Any project at all so long as you have a stamped item
as the focal point.

For my card I decided to do a quick video to show
the process I have gone through.
Sorry for the voice, I was knee deep in a very bad cold.

Christmas at Tag Tuesday!

It's my turn to choose the challenge theme over at
this time and I have gone with
Christmas in July!!
I do like to torture the design team ladies lol.

For my first tag I have gone with a traditional feel.
The papers and card came from a very old kits again
(Brenda Pinnick I think) which I chopped up to make a tag.
The angled front was already cut so just use it.
The background has been stamped using cherry cobbler
and the poinsettia has been stamped and coloured using wink of stella.
The sentiment chipboard came with the kit.
The stamp set used is called Poinsettia Petals (SU).

Let's go camping!

It's the second week of Sandie's
holidays/travel challenge over at
and I have gone with a couple of little campers.

The stamps are very old and from a set called
Patchwork Pals from Kanban.
I coloured them up with markers and attempted to add
grass 🙈 and  stencilled some clouds.
The sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps.

I hope you get time to join us.

Summer Flowers

Our July challenge at
is summer flowers.

We are sponsored by
Crafty Individuals with a £25 gift voucher!

I was lucky enough to win this beautiful stamp
from Chocolate Baroque and thought it would be perfect
for this challenge.
The image has been stamped directly onto my card,
then coloured with blends.
I then inked around the edges in matching colours
and even coloured the white ribbon with the blends
so it all tied in.

I hope you get time to play along with your
summer flower stamps!
