Night in Bethlehem

I had another play with Night in Bethlehem set,
this time incorporating the dies into the card as well.
This time I went with yellow for the stars
and used silver and white for the city scape.
Mary and Joseph was stamped in azure afternoon ink
and die cut.
I inked the sand area soft suede and built up my scene
and stamped the sentiment with white embossing powder.
It looks crooked in the photo but it's fine in real life.
before placing Mary and Joseph in the front.
It was layered onto silver and azure afternoon card to finish.

Blessed Christmas wishes

We lost our only living uncle this year and I wanted to send out
a special card to my Aunt and cousins this Christmas.
This set get pulled out every year. It's called
Night in Bethlehem.
So I started by created the background by stamping the large and
small stars using versamark ink and then embossing them with
clear embossing powder.
Next I inked the background using Azure Afternoon ink (SU).
I inked down so far, leaving space for my city scape and land.
I added some heavier lines where the star was shining.
Next I stamped Bethlehem and gently inked around it.
I used black soot distress ink to created the silhouette
land and mountain then stamped the shepherd on the top.
I added some yellow to the houses and finished
with a star in the centre of the white star.
The sentiment was stamped directly onto the black
then white embossed.
It has then been matted onto silver and azure afternoon card.
Nice and flat for posting.

We went to watch one of our Grandson's with his school choir
in the Shopping Centre this morning.
Kids singing definitely makes Christmas special.
It was such a joy to watch.
He was super chuffed when he spotted us in the crowd
as his parents both had to go to work.

Night in Bethlehem

Happy Monday!
It's time to share my midway post for
where the theme is at least one thing stamped plus option 'favourite colour.'

We have a two lovely prizes up for grabs so I hope
you get time during this busy month to join us.

I have gone with a traditional theme but not in traditional colours!
The name of this type of card is called an Eclipse card
and it's been a few years from my last one!
I used a stamp set called Night in Bethlehem
and the colour is called Fresh Freesia.

As this card is for my Mother-in-law I went ahead
and finished the inside using the same colours and stamps.

Christmas on the farm!

It's the second week of Michele's theme
Farm Animals
over at
I have gone with a donkey, very appropriate animal for Christmas
I am sure!
I stamped some Christmas words in the background along
with the Christmas star.
Then I inked it up.
The donkey was stamped, coloured and cut and put in place
and I then made a faux fence to keep him safe lol.
It's like he is peeping into the nativity scene.

I think there is a problem with the linky tool at Tag Tuesday,
but hopefully fixed soon.

Night in Bethlehem Christmas card

My card today is for a special lady and we always exchange Christmas cards every year.
She is a very religious person so I like to go down that route for her card.

This one uses a retired set called
Night in Bethlehem.
Definitely a set I will hold onto forever.
I used night of navy, daffodil delight and soft suede inks
I water coloured the yellow areas for a washed out effect
and finished with some stars and sparkle.

Night in Bethlehem

My card today is a Religious themed Christmas card.
I had the stamp set from way back in February but had not got the matching dies,
so I treated myself.
I do love them! They really open up the possibilities with this stamp set.
I started with a piece of water colour card and after cutting the town setting
in gold and navy white, I worked out where I should stamp the navy town layer
for the background.
Having sponged my sky background I stamped the navy scene
and then built the next two layers on top using dimensionals.
I used my daffodil delight blender markers to shade the windows and sand areas.
I stamped Mary and Joseph and cut using the dies.
The sentiment was stamped and embossed in white onto navy card.
After added it, I trimmed it with some gold card.
The star was stamped and cut to finish it all off.

Travelling to Bethlehem

I bought myself some Shimmer Paint and wanted to challenge myself
to mix it with inks and make some backgrounds.
So this is what I made!
It really does shimmer (you probably can't see that unfortunately).
I just wanted a clean and simple card.

I started by putting some ink on an ink block and mixed with the shimmer paint.
I used Bermuda Bay ink for the sky and Daffodil Delight for the sand.
On some watercolour card I painted over with water first,
then dipped into the colours and created the background.
Using the Night in Bethlehem stamp set I stamped in
Memento ink, the image and sentiment.
I matted it all onto black card then stuck to my base card.
I used a gel pen to add some twinkling stars.
I'm pretty pleased with my first attempt and will definitely
be trying the Shimmer paint on other items!

My sentiment is looking a bit wonky! Opps!
So I will stamp again and layer it up!
We have a family bereavement at the minute so head is elsewhere.

Blessed Christmas wishes

I had a special Christmas card request with a religious theme.
I have two sets I always turn to called
and
His Light
Both these sets are invaluable. They contain the most beautiful sentiments
which perfectly capture a religious feel.

I started with a base of Under the Mistletoe dsp.
I cut a large oval shape and then created a background scene
on some watercolour card using real red ink pad and water.
I flipped the paintbrush to create some white stars.
I then stamped the town scene from Night in Bethlehem
in black memento, repeat stamping without inking to add layers.
I stamped the figures in memento and cut them out.
After placing the scene behind the dsp I add a white oval layer.
I stamped the figures directly on top of these layers as it's very hard
to cut round some of the smaller pieces, like the staff and reins.
So when I cut out the individual figures I could raise them up to covering the flat stamping.
I added a white base which I had embossed using
and wrapped some red ribbon around it before sticking to card.
The sentiment was stamped in real red and added over ribbon using dimensionals.
The top sentiment was stamped in real red as well and I then rounded the corners off.
I added the recipients names via the computer.
The final piece was the star, stamped in pineapple punch and glittered

I really enjoyed making this one.
